Emily Webb in Our Town

At Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory, Directed by Cheryl Goodman-Morris, March 2012
"Our Town is set in 1901, but the themes the play addresses are the same ones we face every day in 2012. So instead of costumes from the early 1900s, you will find the cast dressed in clothing that you might pull on to run to the grocery store. And you will sit close enough to the actors to almost touch them, experiencing firsthand the miracle of the story as it unfolds around you. Music weaves throughout the play, heightening the moments. The sum total of all these parts is a stunning, riveting theatrical experience." -Cheryl Goodman-Morris, www.pvtc-ca.org/Our_Town.html

Terry Randall in Stage Door

At Menlo-Atherton High School, Directed by Debra Jean Zwicker-Sobrepeña, November 2011

"[Taylor} pulls of the character flawlessly with an impeccable sense of maturity and, when the scene calls for it, what appears to be genuine hysteria. Her interactions with the other players keep each one of her scenes believable and personal, as though she truly is a tenant of the Footlights Club with only one dream: to make a living on the stage. Her onstage relationship with Terry’s playwright love interest Keith Burgess—played by sophomore Will Hanely—deserves mention due to its masterful subtlety. It is not overplayed nor is it understated; it’s simply realistic and wins the support and at times repugnance (due to Keith’s occasional treatment of Terry as a codependent doormat) from the audience." -Madeline Drace, mabearnews.com

Claire Allegra Taylor is a cultivator, investigator, and questioner of human relationships. She firmly believes that humans can always do better, be it in our treatment of the ones we love, our desire to fix epidemic social problems, or our care for our environment. Claire wants to use theatre as a means to show how this is possible. She would like to create work that is vibrant in its language and physical capacity that challenges a modern audience’s expectations.
